Simon Warr, President, International Association of Legal Protection Insurance, and Underwriting Manager, AmTrust International

Simon will give the participants an overview of the history Legal Expense Insurance, how the industry got to where it is today, the geographic spread and scope of the product and how it operates in different jurisdictions and legal systems. He will also discuss the likely future development, challenges and opportunities for Legal Expenses Insurance.

On 7 April 2017 the International Association of Legal Protection Insurance (RIAD) members unanimously elected Simon as its President.

Simon, who has been working in the legal expenses profession since 1989, is one of the very few legal expenses underwriters to write business in both the Lloyd’s and company markets. He has been involved in promoting and establishing new markets for legal protection insurance in countries around the world.

When elected he declared: “I am honoured to be elected RIAD President and I am looking forward to representing our industry. I think that innovation and new developments will offer great opportunities for our members and I am excited that I will be part of this”.

Simon has worked for AmTrust International for the past seven years and currently runs the underwriting teams across three sites in the UK, has been involved with RIAD since 2010 and has been a Board member and Vice-President since 2012.

Simon’s presentation will also include discussion of how innovation is currently impacting the Legal Expenses Industry and where future market opportunities may lie.
