Sorry for the confusion - tomorrow's seminar is indeed on Ethics and AI!

Our September Seminar:

Ethics and AI

will be presented by Dr John Selby

This seminar opens up the challenges for decision-making processes posed by machine learning and artificial intelligence. This includes risks of algorithmic bias and risks to existing accountability mechanisms, such as administrative appeals and alternative dispute resolution.

Our Speaker

Dr John Selby is an academic member of the Optus-Macquarie Cybersecurity Hub at Macquarie University. Having previously worked as a lawyer at (what is now) King & Wood Mallesons, Dr Selby's research focuses on the spillover effects of new technologies, such as the Internet, on business. Dr Selby has been a visiting professor at the University of Zurich, the University of Oslo, the University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute, and the Katholiek University of Leuven. He currently teaches a unit on Cybersecurity & Privacy at Macquarie University and is an active participant in technology policy debates in Australia and overseas.

Please join us, starting at 6PM, for a great seminar and refreshments.
